We’ve had a ton going on, so much so that our site has lagged sorely behind everything else. But the big one for today: The Hollywood Reporter has written an article on Found Footage 3D.
Happy Halloween, everyone!
We’ve had a ton going on, so much so that our site has lagged sorely behind everything else. But the big one for today: The Hollywood Reporter has written an article on Found Footage 3D.
Happy Halloween, everyone!
It’s been a crazy week.
On Tuesday morning we introduced new perks to our Indiegogo campaign, specially for Texas Chainsaw fans. Depending on your contribution level, you can choose any one, two, or all four of these items, all SIGNED by Texas Chainsaw co-creator Kim Henkel.
If you’ve ever tried to get Kim’s signature before, you know he can be pretty elusive. We recently heard that one of our fans has spent ten years collecting signatures from every major player in the original movie, but since Kim rarely (if ever) attends conventions or screenings, that’s the one signature he’s still missing. (And before you ask, yes, we’re hooking the guy up.) So this could be your only opportunity to get something signed by the guy who co-created Leatherface.
The Austin Chronicle‘s website has a column called “One in a Crowd,” which “showcase[s] Texas film and tech projects that are crowdfunding their way to a goal.” Guess who the featured project of the week is? Courtesy of our good friend Richard Whittaker (the same guy who said, on Steven’s Facebook wall, “Is this the greatest crowdfunding video ever? I’m not saying yes, but I’m not not saying yes.”)
We are giving $500 (plus a pair of tickets to our private screening and the exclusive after party*) to the person who gets us the most Indiegogo contributions. No catch. No strings. Five hundred bucks.
Here’s how it works:
It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for! Found Footage 3D‘s Indiegogo campaign is now live!
We hope you enjoyed watching that as much as we enjoyed making it.
But we’ve got way more than just a cool video to offer. We’ve also got some amazing rewards to the people who contribute. Like, for example:
This, of course, in addition to DVDs, Blu-Rays, digital downloads, postcards, stickers, and more.
So please visit our campaign, contribute whatever you can, share it with your friends, and help us show the world how much it needs Found Footage 3D!
Last night, Charlie Hodge at his monthly event The Show! screened:
The audience loved all three.
There were three other shorts that screened that night, which, along with “First Date,” were in contention for a single spot at the Hollyshorts Film Festival.
The audience voted “First Date” as their favorite, which means that it will be heading to Los Angeles in November.
This is the 4th Audience Award for “First Date”. The other three were at the DC Shorts Film Festival (out of 140 films), the Taos Shortz Film Festival (out of 88), and the Dam Short Film Festival (out of 146).
You can watch it in its entirety here:
We promise it will be the most terrifying and hilarious 13 minutes of your life.
Stay tuned for the official launch of our Indiegogo campaign tomorrow
On Sunday, October 12th, we will premiere a 4-minute teaser from the film and our Indiegogo campaign video (which is pretty awesome, if we do say so ourselves) at The Show! Austin. Two days later, our IGG campaign officially launches.
Attendees of The Show! will have access to perks not available at any other time during the campaign.
Even better, we’re giving away 10 free tickets to The Show!, and offering a discount on ticket prices.
Click here to enter the drawing. Deadline is EXTENDED UNTIL 11:59 PM SUNDAY (October 5th). Everyone who enters will also receive a promo code for 15% off the price of the tickets.
For more details about The Show! or to purchase tickets directly from the site, click here.
UPDATE: Sorry – the poll’s already closed, so we’ve taken the videos down, too. Sign up on our email list to get a first look when the winner goes out to the public.
Next month we’ll be launching an Indiegogo campaign, so we’ll be publicly releasing the first clips of Found Footage 3D. But we want your help to figure out which of these three clips makes the best teaser for the film.

Horror-writers.net sat down with Steven for an interview to get his thoughts on the concepts behind Found Footage 3D and how 3D and comedy will play an important role in the film. Also, find out what films inspired Steven to start directing in the first place.
Last night, the producers and a few guests gathered at director Steven DeGennaro’s house to watch the first rough cut of Found Footage 3D.
This cut doesn’t have any visual or sound effects, and it’s about 20-30 minutes too long. Periodically throughout, a white box would show up on screen along with text like “The Spectre appears over here.” (Ooh, creepy.)
Even so, everyone loved it. Even those who haven’t read the script and knew nothing about FF3D had great things to say.
Producer Kim Henkel, who has watched hundreds of rough cuts in his career, said, “I’ve been to a lot of these that are very discouraging. This one, I would say, is quite the opposite.” (Kim, by the way, doesn’t give compliments lightly. This is very high praise coming from him.)
We still have a long way to go, but we are making great progress and are feeling really good. Can’t wait to show it to you guys!
