Three years of hard work by a lot of very talented people has come down to this:
We’re not done yet by a long shot. A careful examination of the above picture reveals the words “Work-in-Progress”. But we submitted to our first film festival today. The first of many. Now all we can do is wait. Oh… and finish the movie.

Three years ago this very day, I had a sudden inspiration for a story that no one had ever done before… a feature film that I could write and direct myself, and possibly even raise the money to shoot. Given that I’d never done any of those things on that scale before (especially the money raising part), it was pretty crazy to think I would be able. It required a pretty big leap of faith, especially on the part of my very supportive wife, who thought I was nuts but went along with it anyway.
Well… the picture is locked, and after a long week cleaning up project files and reconforming temp mixes and yada yada (and then another week putting out fires with regard to our taxes for this year), I’m finally getting to do what it is I do best: sound.
I cannot even being to describe how happy it makes me to finally be doing the sound for this movie. Fifteen years of training of my ears, hands, and instincts have me powering through it and not looking back. Picture editing always feels clunky to me. But once I get back into Pro Tools, it’s like my body and brain just remember what to do and do it. It’s a good feeling.
We’ve had a ton going on, so much so that our site has lagged sorely behind everything else. But the big one for today: The Hollywood Reporter has written an article on Found Footage 3D.

It’s been a crazy week.
On Tuesday morning we introduced new perks to our Indiegogo campaign, specially for Texas Chainsaw fans. Depending on your contribution level, you can choose any one, two, or all four of these items, all SIGNED by Texas Chainsaw co-creator Kim Henkel.
If you’ve ever tried to get Kim’s signature before, you know he can be pretty elusive. We recently heard that one of our fans has spent ten years collecting signatures from every major player in the original movie, but since Kim rarely (if ever) attends conventions or screenings, that’s the one signature he’s still missing. (And before you ask, yes, we’re hooking the guy up.) So this could be your only opportunity to get something signed by the guy who co-created Leatherface.
The Austin Chronicle‘s website has a column called “One in a Crowd,” which “showcase[s] Texas film and tech projects that are crowdfunding their way to a goal.” Guess who the featured project of the week is? Courtesy of our good friend Richard Whittaker (the same guy who said, on Steven’s Facebook wall, “Is this the greatest crowdfunding video ever? I’m not saying yes, but I’m not not saying yes.”)

The audience loved all three.
There were three other shorts that screened that night, which, along with “First Date,” were in contention for a single spot at the Hollyshorts Film Festival.
The audience voted “First Date” as their favorite, which means that it will be heading to Los Angeles in November.
This is the 4th Audience Award for “First Date”. The other three were at the DC Shorts Film Festival (out of 140 films), the Taos Shortz Film Festival (out of 88), and the Dam Short Film Festival (out of 146).
